On Tuesday, April 19th, 2022, Crisalia Lugo passed away. She was 70 years old.
Crisalia was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. Her greatest pride and joy in life were her two children Crisaliz and Jonathan. She dedicated her life to raising her children, playing the role of mother and father. Despite the struggles she faced, she always provided a loving home and sacrificed to provide opportunities for her children. She made sure they always had what they needed and gave them experiences and memories to last a lifetime.
Crisalia attended New York City Community College and achieved an associates degree with dreams of becoming a nurse but ultimately decided to pursue a career as a Paraprofessional with the New York City Board of Education as this would allow her the best schedule to continue to support her children. She was passionate about her role assisting students with special needs at P371K, Lillian Rashkis high school, where she worked for 25 years.
She will be remembered for her strong will, caring and energetic personality, her humor and her joy for life. Crisalia enjoyed making others laugh and was always willing to go above and beyond to help her friends and family. She loved being a grandmother and was thrilled when she welcomed her first granddaughter Savana in 2002. She also loved being in the sun and spending time with her loved ones.
Crisalia is survived by her children, Jonathan and Crisaliz DeCastro and her 5 Grandchildren Savana, Samara, Madden, Evan and Liana.
While her family grieves her loss, they take comfort knowing that she is no longer suffering. They invite you to join them for a memorial service.
